Yesterday was day twenty and I couldn't post an update because my computer was dead and we were having a thunderstorm so I was afraid to plug it in to charge.  I had a good day overall except I kept getting cold.  It was nearly 90 degrees and I was in sweat pants!  I guess it'll be okay though I would rather be cold occasionally than feel horrible.

My thoughts on Honey and it's Ethical Practices

For years I have suffered from horrible allergies and no allergy medicine helped.  I was even taking allergy shots and I would still deal with horrible allergy symptoms.  My pediatrician asked me if I ate honey, I told her yeah but only the conventional stuff and she just kinda looked at me dumbfounded.  She told me because of my allergies that I should find someone local with bees who was selling honey and use it instead of the conventional honey.

Because I was a curious child I asked her why I should do that and she told me it was because one honey bee will travel about a ten mile radius from it's hive to collect pollen and nectar to make honey thus by eating the honey from these bees I would lessen the severity of my allergies.   The next week or so my mom and I spent looking for local beekeepers and we found one.  Just by switching my conventional honey for local honey and I didn't have to take my allergy shots about three weeks after making the switch because I built up the antibodies for local flora and my allergy doctor was amazed.  He asked how I did it and I told him local honey.  He began prescribing local honey to his patients and he saw a decrease in people with severe flora allergies across the board.

Honey works for allergy sufferers but is it ethical?

Most vegans will tell you no matter what no honey is ethical because it is an animal by product but I don't feel the same way about honey because I have seen the process local beekeepers do to extract the honey from the combs.

Local beekeepers and all small bee farms use smoke to calm the bees before removing surplus combs which are stripped and then placed back for the bees to continue to produce honey.  Bees by nature will create a surplus of honey as long as they have places to build combs.  This is how they live, how their are programmed to function.  Clearing the supers to be refilled also keeps the bees healthy because they continue to work.

Now i am not sure how conventional honey is harvested but I figure, just like almost every other conventional animal by-product, is harvested in an unethical fashion.  I do not use conventional honey for anything because it has no benefits for my body.

Bee pollen?

Bee pollen is actually very ethical, on the outside of the conventional hives (the wooden boxes not the naturally made hives) are screens and collector bags.  The pollen collects on the legs of the bees in little balls of pollen and the screens brush the pollen off kinda like a hair brush and it falls into the collection bags doing no harm to the bees.  I don't even think they notice it to be honest.

The bee pollen can also help allergy suffers and is a source of B12 if eaten in it's whole food source.

So as a synopsis I do feel that local honey and bee pollen is very ethical and isn't a problem to eat because it helps allergy suffers and it isn't harming the bees but please make sure it is local if you are going to eat it.

As always thanks for reading and you all are awesome!  Have a great day till I talk to you next!

Day 19

So today was actually really good aside from hurting and my crappy breakfast.  My nerves were on edge all day but that's because of the rain, the food didn't effect me like I thought it would.

So I got about 10 hours of sleep last night and I drank about 4L of water and tea today.

Total Calories: 1861
Carbs: 304.8 (62% of Total Calories)
Fat: 36 grams (17% of Total Calories)
Protein: 98 grams ( 20% of Total Calories)

Breakfast:
So this was my worst choice for food but I ate two doughnuts and drank two bottles of water.

Lunch:
My mom found Chicken Jerky and I ate about half of the bag, it was good but it wasn't as good as I wanted.

Then I found these Steamfresh Protein Blends and they are steamer bags of frozen veggies and whole grains.  I ate the Southwestern Blend which was red pepper, black beans, lentils, corn, couscous, and rice.  I ate that with two 8 inch tortillas and lettuce and a little bit of mustard for extra flavor.

Dinner:
I made a smoothie with strawberries, a pulot(which is basically a white plum), two bananas, some local honey(because my doctor says to eat it due to the anti-microbial properties it has) and apple juice.  It was so good.  I will do a post on honey and bee pollen and the ethical ways it is collected from local hives.

As always you all are awesome!  Have a great night and a great day tomorrow!

Day 18 (a little late)

Well yesterday I got in over 3000 calories burnt just playing around but literally idk how much I ate yesterday because I was eating at family's house but that said I think whatever I ate calorie wise was burnt off through my activities yesterday.

I played volleyball, corn hole, went swimming, running with the dogs and even a scavenger hunt.

I slept well the night before getting about 9 hours of sleep and I drank about 5L of water while doing all of the activities.

I hope your 4th of July was amazing if you celebrated.  As always you all are awesome.  Look for another blog post from me very shortly tonight.

Day 17, Wedding Day

So because of the hectic nature of today and the inability to track any of my calories or anything I ate but I will try to get back on schedule tomorrow if not the 5th because I am going to a family gathering tomorrow which I will more than likely not be able to track anything perfectly but I can try to get as close as I can.  I just know today was a lost cause.

Sorry about that guys.

Day 16

Well I didn't have a vegan day and I knew I wouldn't.  We ate out like I figured.  I am so not ready for tomorrow, I have never been in a wedding and it literally makes me sick to my stomach nervous.  I have to get up at like 9 in the morning so I need to go to bed soon so this might be a short blog and I so apologize.

I got about 9 hours of sleep last night and got in about 4L of water.

Day 15

I changed the name of my blog because FruitAFTER4 has been changed to Light@Night, you can learn more about it by following and watching videos on youtube by Earthling Nutrition.  That being said I will still be doing my blog as I have been the past two weeks.

I had a horribly hectic day today so my calories are lower than they normally are and I can tell you that tomorrow will probably not be vegan because I will be eating out because we are going shopping tomorrow.  One meal does not define me though so I'll be okay.

I got about 10 hours of sleep last night and drank about 3L of water today.  I'm actually working on the last little bit of my third liter so yeah.

I know, not the healthiest things ever but hey it was stressful today.

As always you all are awesome!  Have a great night and an even better day tomorrow!

Day 14

Wow, I didn't realize it had already been two weeks since I started this.  To be honest I am feeling really really good about things now.  The first day or three were rocky but now it's not much of a difference or problem to eat slightly different than I was.  Today was good except I literally got drenched because one of our planter boxes fell over and I was out, in the rain attempting to sit it back up and anchor it to something sturdy.

I got nine hours of sleep and almost 4L of water today.  My weight this morning was 331.7lbs or 150kilos.  All in all it was a good day.

The last bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats.  Yeah I know, not vegan but hey I know I will never be perfect and to think I can be is just horrible because it can lead to anorexia, bulimia, and/or orthorexia.

Lunch:
Half a box of 100% whole wheat thin spaghetti with a sauce of one can of tomatoes and 2 cups of left over pinto beans from yesterday.  I also had two pieces of sourdough toast.

Dinner:
This was kind of odd but hey it'll be ok.  I had one cup of apple sauce, .75 ounces of almonds and a half cup of tapioca pudding.

Sorry for the lack of pictures, more will be up soon.
As always you guys are awesome and have a great night tonight and a great day tomorrow!

Day 13

Today has actually been pretty average except trying to figure out what the heck I am going to wear and everything.  I had to figure out how I am going to do my hair for Friday and finally I settled on something.  It's simple but I hope it will be good enough for it.  My mood has been level and stationary and fluctuated between annoyed and mellow.  I was only annoyed because my grandmother decided to tell me I had to wear heels Friday when no one else was.  Literally it took my mom talking to her to get her to understand.

Today I got 3L of water in and I got 8 hours of sleep.  It's not been a fully vegan day but it's been about 80% vegan which for me is a good day.  Because I have been so worried I actually haven't been taking pictures.  I promise I will get back on that as soon as all the craziness dies down.

Breakfast:
I made my pancakes, didn't add any oil this time so they were less greasy and had better texture but this time I added lemon extract and it was amazing.

Lunch:
Sourdough toast, two pieces, garlic, tomato, mixed baby greens.  It's a GLT, garlic, lettuce, tomato.

Dinner:
So disclaimer, I HATE pinto beans and I ate two bowls of them with garlic and chili powder.  If you like refried beans you need to try pinto beans like that.  They taste so good.

I decided to make me some blueberry tea, caffeine free with some sugar in it.  I am actually drinking that as I write this post.  I am headed to bed here shortly and hopefully I can catch some sun tomorrow so I can even my tan out more.

As always you all are awesome and have a great night tonight and a great day tomorrow!

Day 12

Today has been a weird one.  I was asked to be a brides maid in a wedding...this coming Friday.  So now I have to find a light blue dress and figure out what to do with my mess of hair before Thursday night.  Stressed is an understatement, but she's like my sister so I guess it'll be worth it.

I didn't eat vegan today but I didn't eat like crap either.  I was really okay until my mom grilled chicken outside.  It was hard to resist so I only had 2 ounces of it and realized I'm not missing much by not eating it. I slept well, 9 hours.  I got in 4L of water and green tea today which is great for me.  I also got my hour in the sunshine for my vitamin D.  I promise to be back on FruitAFTER4 tomorrow!

Dinner:
2 oz of chicken breast, grilled peppers and onions, sliced tomatoes

Sorry today was boring and not actually vegan...
As always you all are awesome and have a good night and great day tomorrow!

Day 11

Today sucked! So I slipped up on one of my meals today.  I paid for it and I still am paying for it.  It was all the grease and the milk in it and I know it was.  At least I know now that my body has been changing and adapting but  I didn't let that one hiccup mess up my whole day.  I didn't take any pictures today because I didn't make anything I haven't made before and I literally didn't think about it today.

I got 8 hours of sleep last night and drank 3L of water today but my fat intake was sooooooooooooo much more than I wanted.  I am not letting this one slip of mess up the rest of my time like I used to.  My mentality has completely changed from even two months ago.  Before, if I had one bad meal or one bad day I would give up because I had no will power and I felt so poorly about myself but now I can look at myself in the mirror and say "You know, it's okay.  It was one meal, that one meal can not ruin your goals because it was only one meal.  Pick yourself back up and realize that the next meal is a new moment and if in one week you have one bad meal you are still not in the negative so to speak because it was only one out of twenty-one."  Then I take a deep breath and shake myself off.  That's what I did today.  Tomorrow is a new day.

Breakfast:
Here on the East Coast of the USA we have a restaurant called Tudor's.  It's a biscuit shop basically.  You can get biscuits and gravy which is what mom got me.  They have lunch type foods too but I don't think I will ever be eating there again, it made my tummy hurt and I felt like poop.

Lunch:
I chopped up 4 baking potatoes and baked them with a lot of spices and only a little bit of oil to prevent them from sticking.  I dipped them in ketchup.

Dinner:
Before dinner I had a piece of sourdough bread toasted.  For dinner I had lemon flavored banana Nice Cream.

Today has been eventful and testing.  As always you all are awesome!  Have a good night, good day!

Day 10

Today was good, I actually had tofu for the first time in a long time and it was SO good.  I didn't really sleep well last night for the simple reason that there was tons of thunder storms last night so I kinda have been slightly cranky all day but I don't like storms and the house shook with the force of the thunder.

I went to bed at 1am and got out of bed at 11am so I got between 8-10 hours of sleep which has been my average it seems.  I drank 2L of water and 1L of unsweetened green tea with lemon in it.  It was really hot today which is why I drank the green tea.  Unlike some people coffee and teas have no effect on my energy levels so I could never rely on them for energy.

I didn't get to take a lot of pictures today but I hope that will change tomorrow.

Breakfast:
So I know, Cheerios aren't 100% vegan because they contain D3 but I told you guys I am not going to bee 100% vegan 100% of the time.  I just had a craving for Cheerios this morning so I ate 1 cup of Cheerios and the last 1/2 cup of my Grape-Nuts, topped them with a tablespoon of sugar and water and called it a morning cause I wasn't very hungry.

Lunch:
Now as I said I had tofu and I did, with 2 cups of rice, I only have half a block of tofu because I can't eat a whole block by myself in one day.  So I cubed it up and tossed it in some corn starch and spices after pressing it and I pan fried it in a little bit of olive oil.

Dinner:
Dinner was boring to be honest, I had two bananas and a cup of apple sauce.

As always you all are awesome and have a great night and day!

Day 9

You know, I try to come up with catchy titles for my posts but really nothing ever comes to me.  So I guess I will stick will meaningless titles while I attempt to think of something better, please bear with me till it does.

Today was decent I guess, I mean my aunt had me on edge all day but that's normal.  Other than that my mood was quite level as was my energy.  I didn't eat at much as I normally do but you know, it'll be okay.  I got about 11 hours of sleep and 3L of water today which is always awesome.

Lunch:
Caramelized onions and bell peppers, small Naan bread, one yellow tomato minus like three slices which are in my dinner salad.  I made a pizza of sorts out of everything.  It was so good.

Dinner:
So call me boring but I had a salad of baby mixed greens, the rest of the tomato, the left over onions and peppers, garlic, balsamic vinegar and salsa, weird yes but soooo good.

Sorry today was kind of uneventful but hey, at least there are pictures! (kinda)
As always have a great night and a great day tomorrow!

Day 8

Sorry I'm late, been binge watching sense8 on Netflix... :D  If you haven't watched it and have Netflix you totally should.  It's about eight people whose minds have been reborn to coexist among eachother, they can share memories, feelings, places, everything and it follows their growth and understanding of what is going on and how to regulate it.  It's awesome!  It's much better than my day and the fact my weight has fluctuated up and down between 332 and 334 for the past few days.  It's utterly annoying.

I am also finding I crave bread later in the evening, like 6pm EST.  I know it wouldn't hurt for me to eat a small piece of toast then because I stay up at least 8 more hours after that but I am worried it will slow my fat burning even more.  I think I am not drinking enough so I will try to drink more tomorrow and see if it helps any.

I slept well last night and didn't nap today so in total I got ten hours of sleep last night.  My legs are horribly sore even right now,  If I stay in one position to long then when I go to move again it is like trying to bend stone.  I drank 2L of water today and 1L of sweet tea, homemade of course.

My mood has been slightly horrible because of my aunt being in, her and I butt heads because we are way to alike for our own good.  Yes this is the same one who people mistake me for at family gatherings but you know, it couldn't be to awful bad I guess.

Thank you guys for your views, I would love to get feedback from you guys!  As always have a good night and great day tomorrow!

Day 7 Synopsis

My legs burn!  My lower body workout and walk killed me today, I know I will feel it tomorrow but I can't let it stop me, no pain no gain.  My day started off pretty weird because I got up, ate a banana and was going for my walk, well this dog kept barking and barking and my grandmother walked outside and was yelling at me to come here and when I did there was a dog in our backyard!  We have two cats, no dogs, no idea how it got in my yard but there it was.  When I let it out it went onto my porch and laid down.  I got him some water and then began walking the neighborhood trying to find his owner, finally found them after a 20 minute walk in 90 degree heat with a dewpoint of 73....  So after that I came home and ate breakfast thought it was literally already lunch time for most people.  Breakfast was uneventful, as was lunch, dinner was amazing though because of fruit.  I think I could probably be mostly fruititarian(please ignore my horrendous spelling if it is wrong) because I love eating fruit so much when it is ripe and in season.  I drank about 4L of water today because of how hot and sticky it was today, I took a two hour nap so I got about 12 hours of sleep last night/today actually which is way more than I normally get but I am not complaining.  There will be no picture of my fruit dinner cause I was just to hungry to take a picture first lol, not going to lie about that one.

Lunch:
So part of lunch was a slice of wheat toast, a tablespoon of hummus, baby spring mix, sliced tomato and salt and pepper.  The other part was an ear of white corn, 2 cups of cooked white rice and soy sauce.

Dinner:
One banana, one apple, one cup of pineapple, one and a half cups of cantaloupe, a sprinkle of sugar all cut up and mixed in a bowl.

As always thank you guys so much and have a great night and a good day tomorrow!  Feel free to leave me comments, I would love to hear from you all.

Day 6 Synopsis

Today was really good.  I took a nap today and I am starting my exercising tomorrow though all it is going to be is walking until I get my bicycle soon.  I am very happy to be getting a bike soon but I have never rode one so it'll be a learning curve but hopefully it will be something I like and that gives me the results long term I am looking for.

In total I got 10 hours of sleep last night/today and I got about 2L of water down today which is pretty good for me.  My mood was level and I feel good even though my weight has stayed the same since my last weight update.

I made my vegan pancakes.  Flour, water, sugar, teaspoon of oil, non-dairy creamer, mix and fry.  They taste like Lucky Charms marshmallows!  I also ate a banana and drank some apple juice.  I would have had orange juice but we had none.
Lunch:
So I kinda wanted something warm today....granted it was 91 degrees outside, so I fixed a can of tomato soup and three potatoes cut into chips and oven baked with no oil.

Dinner:
Decided on a huge salad which actually wouldn't fit in one bowl so I had a small overflow bowl of cucumbers and tomatoes.  My salad was baby mixed greens, tomatoes, raspberries, cucumbers, dried cranberries and a few pecan halves.

As always thanks for reading and I hope you all had a great day and I hope your day tomorrow is great as well!

Day 5 Synopsis

Today was pretty crappy other than seeing family I haven't seen in about five years. We had a family reunion which was decent but it was too hot and too hectic for my liking.  I just wish I could have stayed home in order to be able to eat and exercise in order to be able to get better results. I ate way to many fats for my liking and I felt heavy today because of it,  I mean it was a different feeling than being full from starches, its a heavier feeling.  I am having trouble keeping my fats down but I am trying.  Other than that I am doing good and feel good about my food and digestion for the most part.

Day 4 Synopsis

So today was a little hectic because I had to go shopping because of a family reunion tomorrow but I made a vegan(though slightly higher fat content) pasta salad which I will put the recipe in tomorrow's blog post.  If you like something with a mayo based dressing you will like this because of the dressing.  It's so good.  You can also remove the pasta and double the ingredients to bake a corn salsa of sorts.  And we have pictures today!

So I slept about ten hours, drank about 2.5L of water and an energy drink which didn't really do anything for me but yeah.

Day 3 Synopsis

So I got no sleep last night from worrying about my kitty.  She had to get shaved and we took her into the vet at nine am.  Mom went back and got her this evening and now she's home and I'm so happy it's not even funny.  She's still sleepy but she's good so I don't mind being up all night worried about her.  She's my baby.

Because of my lack of sleep my mood was horrible but I knew that was going to happen.  I did take a three hour nap after my she came home cause I knew she was ok.  because of my hectic day I haven't eaten much calorie wise but that makes sense since I have had little time to think about food.

Time for the calorie count of the day for you all to see.

Water: 3L
Total Calories: 1312
Carbs: 299 grams (84% of total calories)

Day 2 Synopsis

Today has been decent.  My stomach has been acting up all day but my nerves are kinda shot after remembering we have to take our older cat to the vet tomorrow for her check up and to get her fur cut.  I hate having to put her in the cat carrier and take her places, she cries and whines the whole time.

My mood has been level, very little ups and downs like before.  No depressive moments either which is amazing.  I got about nine hours of sleep last night which is about average for me, between 7-10 hours is pretty good for me for sleep because I have chronic insomnia so yeah.

Day one synopsis

Okay so today has been pretty easy except for my want of extra fats but it was like that when I transitioned from a Standard American Diet/vegetarianism to veganism.  The extra fat cravings lasted about a week to ten days so I kinda know my fat percentage will be a little (or a lot) more than 5% of my total calories.

So my water consumption is 1.5L so far but I will be up about two more hours and get my other 1.5L in before I go to bed.

My mood has been pretty normal, my energy level has been more even today unlike on Rawtill4.  I also haven't been as hungry as I normally am in the first part of the day which is amazing.

On to calorie breakdown:
Total Calories: 2000
Carbs: 459 grams (83% of total calories)
Fat: 30 grams (12% of total calories *eek*)
Protein: 32 grams (5% of total calories)

Breakfast:
Overnight oatmeal with mixed nuts, dried bananas and dried tropical fruit.  Sweetened with Maple Syrup and a glass of apple juice (16oz)

Lunch:
Two baked potatoes with a tiny bit of salt and pepper, a tablespoon of homemade cashew mayonaise, sliced green onion, a splash of raspberry vinegrette.  Two thin slices of wheat bread rubbed with garlic.

Dinner:
Banana, dried tropical fruit, dried bananas, two small piedes of dark chocolate and 8oz of apple juice

The All Important Introduction Post

FruitAfter4 what is it!?

FruitAfter4 is kinda like Rawtill4 except FA4 says you should eat your starches before 4 or at least six hours before going to bed to allow the glucose in the starches to fully process.

Now after your lunch of starches and fruit what do I eat?

That's easy!  You eat fruit and low starch vegetables till you are full.

Now a little bit about me, my blog, FruitAfter4 and why FA4.

I am overweight, I weigh 334 lbs.  I am only 5'6" and 20 years old.  I decided back in November of 2014 that I would change, I weighed 365 pounds then and I, regrettably, calorie restricted and was still eating animal products daily.  Since then I have went vegetarian and then Rawtill4 vegan.  I won't say I'm always 100% vegan because sometimes it's either eat a little dairy or a small piece of chicken or go hungry and kill my metabolism again so I will eat it if I have to.  I do realize the difference in how I feel if I do have to eat that little bit of animal products.  It makes me feel sick and heavy in a way that starches can't and don't do.  I do try my best to keep myself 95-100% vegan all day every day and I feel good when I can.

This blog is going to be my daily documentation about my mood, my food, my calories, my sleep, my weight and all of that wonderful stuff.  I might even share some recipes if I find one I really like.

So I found FA4 on youtube.  Earthling Nutrition on youtube is where I found FruitAFTER4.  Her videos are not only fun and easy to understand but she also has all of her information backed by pure science.  If you ever need to contact her she does answer you when you message her on her facebook page Earthling Nutrition.

The reason I chose to do FA4 is because the science behind it is pretty on point.  Glucose inhibits fat burning so if you go to sleep with a low blood glucose level then your body will burn fat for energy and you will loose approximately 30 pounds of pure fat per year just by sleeping!  Thirty pounds of fat takes up the same area as 18 grapefruits!

See that up there, every little bit of fat lost is a major thing!  Five pounds of fat weighs as much as a masonary brick so thirty pounds of fat is like taking six bricks off your joints.  Wouldn't that be amazing?  I think so, this is why, for health reasons, I chose FA4.

For ethical reasons I don't like the dairy and meat industry, which is another reason I chose veganism.  Also since eating plant based I feel lighter, another reason to be vegan and see if FA4 will keep me feeling light.

So this is my introductory post.  Look for more from me later today and every day for at least 30 days.
